Chaperones
Our policy
A chaperone is a trained member of staff who can be present during a medical examination or consultation to support both the patient and the clinician.
Chaperones are often offered mainly, but not exclusively, for examinations that may be intimate. Their role is to help ensure the appointment is carried out in a safe, respectful and professional manner, while maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity.
You are welcome to request a chaperone for any appointment. Please let reception know when booking, or inform the clinician at the start of your consultation.
You may also bring a friend, relative or carer with you, although a clinician may still offer a trained practice chaperone where appropriate.
